Book Haul (12/04/21)

Hey y'all! I went to Books-a-Million today, and picked up a few things, so I just thought I'd share.

Punk 57- Penelope Douglas

I saw this book all over BookTok, and thought I'd give it a go. I don't usually go for books with multiple perspectives, but since it's only 2, I think I'll be able to handle it. I've never read anything with the pen pal trope before, so I'm really excited!

A List of Cages- Robin Roe

I haven't read a lot of books with ADHD rep, but I've been wanting to, so this seemed like a perfect book. I'm super interested in psychology, so I'm hoping this book will have a little bit of psych related stuff in it, but we'll see. It seems like it's going to be a really well written and beautiful story, so after a year of wanting to read it, I'm ready to see how it is.

Emergency Contact- Mary HK Choi

If you know me, you know that I love books with mental health rep, and I've heard that not only is this book just amazing, period, but that it does an amazing job of talking about mental health. I'm super excited to see how the romance plays out with it being (I believe) entirely online, so we'll see!

The Way I Used To Be- Amber Smith

As I said above, I really like mental health books, as well as books about learning how to love yourself again. I had it checked out from the library a few months ago, but I never got around to reading it, so I'm excited to finally read it. I expect this to be beautifully done, and I hope it doesn't disappoint.

The Last Time We Say Goodbye- Cynthia Hand

I just read My Lady Jane, which was also written in part by Cynthia Hand, and I absolutely adored it (would you guys be interested in a review of that? Let me know.). I believe this will be a story about acceptance, grief, and moving on, following our main character after her brother's suicide. I love books that make me cry, and I've heard this book has made some people shed a few tears.

Milk and Honey- Rupi Kaur

I just read The Sun and Her Flowers, and it was incredible. Something about a lot of the lines just really spoke to me, so obviously getting Rupi Kaur's other book was a no brainer.

The Thousandth Floor- Katharine McGee

This book has been on my TBR literally forever (or, to be more precise, a little over 2 years). I had a friend who read it who said that it wasn't great, but the concept of a world where your class aligns with what floor you live on is just so interesting to me. Don't quote me on this, but I think I also heard that it's set around the 1920's, which should be good. I'll let you know how it is.

That's the end of my book haul, thank you guys so much for reading! As per usual, feel free to leave a comment with a post request.

YA Travel Book Recommendations

Hi everyone, and welcome to another post! Today we're going to be talking about books where travel is a central part of the plot. I love to travel, and as a result, I love reading about traveling. Does it make me want to go everywhere? Yes. Am I upset about it? No. Most (if not all) of these books fit into the young adult genre. In addition to the title and author I've included a brief description of each book. All of these books were at least 4 stars (in my opinion), so I hope you enjoy! This list isn't ranked at all, and I think all of these books were great. With all that being said, let's get into the books! The Astonishing Color of After by Emily XR Pan The story follows our main character, Leigh, following her mother's suicide. Leigh believes that her mother turned into a bird, and wants her to go to Taiwan to meet her grandparents. She goes to Taiwan, and tries to find her mother as the bird. The Astonishing Color of After is a beautiful story set in b...

Things I Love Seeing in Books

Hey everyone, today I'm going to be talking about things I love seeing in books! I saw this done all over YouTube and BookTok, and thought it would be cool to try. So, I'm basically going to be talking about things that I absolutely adore when I see it happen in a book, and giving two books with that thing. With all that out of the way, let's get into it! Friends to Lovers I feel like this doesn't require much of an explanation, basically just when the love interests start off as friends and then it turns into a romance. I know a lot of people really like enemies to lovers, but I'm a much bigger fan of friends to lovers, especially if it's a slow burn, since I hate enemies to lovers slowburns.  Friends-Lovers Books: I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe  by Benjamin Alire Saenz Unique Formats I love being able to read books quickly, and when a book has a mixed media format, that's just made so much ...
