Telling you if these hyped books are worth the read with a yes or no

How to get free or cheap books

Hi everyone, today I'm going to be talking about how to get cheap (or free!) books. There are a couple of different ways of going about this, and I'm going to hop into a few of them.  1. The Library First, and foremost, my number one tip for getting free books is obviously the library. Library cards are almost always free, and it's a great way of getting free books The downside is that you only have a few weeks to read the books you get, and you don't get to keep them. On the other hand, if you've really been wanting to read a certain book but don't have the money at the moment, the library is a great choice. I know that some people don't prefer library books, but I personally love the library.  2. Libby Libby is an Overdrive app that links to your library card, and allows you to check out free audio or ebooks. Since it's linked to your library, you can't get every book in existence, but I've heard that it usually has a pretty good selection. It...

Things I Love Seeing in Books

Hey everyone, today I'm going to be talking about things I love seeing in books! I saw this done all over YouTube and BookTok, and thought it would be cool to try. So, I'm basically going to be talking about things that I absolutely adore when I see it happen in a book, and giving two books with that thing. With all that out of the way, let's get into it! Friends to Lovers I feel like this doesn't require much of an explanation, basically just when the love interests start off as friends and then it turns into a romance. I know a lot of people really like enemies to lovers, but I'm a much bigger fan of friends to lovers, especially if it's a slow burn, since I hate enemies to lovers slowburns.  Friends-Lovers Books: I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe  by Benjamin Alire Saenz Unique Formats I love being able to read books quickly, and when a book has a mixed media format, that's just made so much ...

Books that Made Me SOB

I don't know about you guys, but one of my favorite things in books is when it makes me cry. Over the years of reading sad books, I've become almost desensitized to sadness in books, so getting me to cry is no easy feat. With that being said, here are some of the books that made me SOB (side note- all of these books were also 5 stars!) The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid I'm sure you've all heard about The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo , but let me just repeat what everyone else said: THIS BOOK WAS FANTASTIC!!! It's told from the point of view of formed Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo from the 1950s to the 80s. It had a bit of a mystery about it, and some of the lines just killed me. My absolute favorite part, though, was the dresses. If you know me, you know that my favorite thing in the World is pretty dresses in books, and this book did not disappoint. I didn't expect to cry given how hyped up it was, and yet I did. Please, just go read it, ...

10 Book Challenge Tag

My first book tag! I found this on the Book Nut, and it looked like a lot of fun.  THE RULES: List 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Do not take more than a few minutes and do not think too hard. They do not have to be the “right” books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. Paste these instructions and tag 10 friends. A Book That Made Me Think: The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur  So many of the lines just spoke to me, and I had to pause after each one to see if it applied to me A Book That Surprised Me:  The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr I hadn't seen it talked about anywhere, it was just on book outlet, but I ended up loving it in every way  A Book That Made Me Happy:  Sick Kids in Love by Hannah Moskowitz  When the main love interests don't die <333333 A Book That Made Me Feel Nostalgic: Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow I reread it for the second time, and just really missed wh...

Book Haul (12/04/21)

Hey y'all! I went to Books-a-Million today, and picked up a few things, so I just thought I'd share.  Punk 57- Penelope Douglas I saw this book all over BookTok, and thought I'd give it a go. I don't usually go for books with multiple perspectives, but since it's only 2, I think I'll be able to handle it. I've never read anything with the pen pal trope before, so I'm really excited! A List of Cages- Robin Roe I haven't read a lot of books with ADHD rep, but I've been wanting to, so this seemed like a perfect book. I'm super interested in psychology, so I'm hoping this book will have a little bit of psych related stuff in it, but we'll see. It seems like it's going to be a really well written and beautiful story, so after a year of wanting to read it, I'm ready to see how it is.  Emergency Contact- Mary HK Choi If you know me, you know that I love books with mental health rep, and I've heard that not only is this boo...

YA Travel Book Recommendations

Hi everyone, and welcome to another post! Today we're going to be talking about books where travel is a central part of the plot. I love to travel, and as a result, I love reading about traveling. Does it make me want to go everywhere? Yes. Am I upset about it? No. Most (if not all) of these books fit into the young adult genre. In addition to the title and author I've included a brief description of each book. All of these books were at least 4 stars (in my opinion), so I hope you enjoy! This list isn't ranked at all, and I think all of these books were great. With all that being said, let's get into the books! The Astonishing Color of After by Emily XR Pan The story follows our main character, Leigh, following her mother's suicide. Leigh believes that her mother turned into a bird, and wants her to go to Taiwan to meet her grandparents. She goes to Taiwan, and tries to find her mother as the bird. The Astonishing Color of After is a beautiful story set in b...

Millie's Top 10 Books of the Year

Hi all! My name is Millie, and welcome to my blog! In this post, we'll be covering my top 10 books of 2021 (as of December, 2021). The book is ranked from my tenth favorite down to my number one read of the year, but also remember that this is just my opinion! So, yeah, let's get into it.  10. With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo Why I loved this book: This is a friends to lovers slow burn centered around high school senior and mother Emoni Santiago. Emoni loves to cook, and has started taking a culinary arts class at her school. Unlike Elizabeth Acevedo's other books, With the Fire on High is not written in verse. The chapters were very short (about 1-3 pages per chapter), which made it fly by. My favorite trope is friends to lovers, and it was so much fun watching the romance slowly unfold. Due to how short the chapters were, the book flew by, and I finished all 400 pages (from Goodreads) in under a day. I love books where cooking and food is a main theme, and it d...
